Lead times, pre-orders and backorders explained

How Coptrz order lead times work, including in-stock dispatch, backorders, special-order items from suppliers, and pre-orders for new releases.

How long an order takes depends mostly on whether we hold the item.

In stock

Stock status shows on the product page (see How do I know if an item is in stock?). Orders placed before 12:30pm are normally dispatched the same working day. For delivery times and costs, see How long does it take for my order to be processed and shipped? and How will my order be delivered?

Out of stock

If the product page says an item is out of stock and you order it anyway, we put it on backorder and ship it as soon as it arrives. While it's on backorder you'll get a weekly update from us with the current position, the estimated shipping time and any delays.

Special orders

Some products, particularly enterprise drones, payloads and accessories, are ordered in specifically for you from one of our suppliers. We'll tell you at the point of order if that's the case. Lead times on these are longer and more variable than on stocked items.

Pre-orders

For newly announced products we sometimes take pre-orders. That reserves your unit in the queue, and it ships once the manufacturer releases stock. Release dates do move, and we'll let you know if yours does.

Because lead times vary so much by product and supplier, the quickest way to get a firm answer on your item is to ask us. Call 0330 111 7177 or email [email protected] and we'll confirm the current timeframe before you commit.

If your timeline changes after you've ordered, see Can I change or cancel my order after it has been placed?
