How to download and install the Guardian Browser for your remote exam

Updated today

If you are preparing for a remotely proctored exam, you may be asked to use the Guardian Browser. This secure browser is provided by Meazure Learning and is designed to support a safe and secure testing experience. It is available for Windows, Mac with Apple silicon, and Mac with Intel processors.

Before you begin

Please use a laptop or desktop computer and install the Guardian Browser before the day of your exam. On the download page, you will see separate options for Windows, Apple (M1/M2/M3/M4), and Apple (Intel), so it is important to choose the correct version for your device.

Where to download

Go to the official Guardian Browser download page below:

From there, select the version that matches your operating system and download the installer.

How to fix it if you are having problems

If your usual web browser is not allowing you to install an exam-related extension, or you have been instructed to use Guardian instead, the simplest solution is to install the Guardian Browser directly from the official Meazure Learning page and launch your exam from there. The Guardian Browser page also includes a support link and additional help for identifying the correct Mac processor type if you are unsure which Apple version to download.

Installing Guardian Browser

Once you have downloaded the correct file, open the installer and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation. After installation, keep the Guardian Browser available on your computer so it is ready for use on exam day.

If you are not sure which Mac version to use

The download page includes separate installers for Apple silicon and Intel-based Macs, along with a support article to help you identify your processor.
