DJI Care Refresh vs DJI Care Enterprise

Updated today

Overview

DJI Care Refresh and DJI Care Enterprise are DJI’s official protection plans designed to reduce the financial impact of accidental damage, crashes, and flyaway incidents. While they sound similar, they are designed for different types of users and aircraft, and choosing the wrong plan is one of the most common causes of customer confusion.

In simple terms:

  • DJI Care Refresh β†’ for consumer and prosumer drones

  • DJI Care Enterprise β†’ for enterprise-grade aircraft and fleets

What Both Plans Have in Common

Both plans provide:

  • Coverage for accidental damage

  • Access to replacement units (instead of long repair cycles)

  • A defined number of replacement claims within the plan period

  • DJI-authorised handling and genuine parts

  • Coverage tied to the serial number of the aircraft

  • Requirement to bind the plan to the aircraft after purchase

They are both designed to reduce downtime and unpredictable repair costs.

DJI Care Refresh (Consumer / Prosumer)

DJI Care Refresh is aimed at individual pilots and smaller drones.

Typically used for:

  • DJI Mini series

  • DJI Air series

  • DJI Mavic series (non-enterprise versions)

  • DJI Avata

  • DJI FPV

  • DJI Neo

Key characteristics:

  • Usually purchased in 1-year or 2-year plans

  • Includes a limited number of replacement units (e.g. 2–4 depending on product)

  • Each replacement has a fixed replacement fee

  • Offers flyaway coverage (if enabled and linked correctly)

  • Designed for single-aircraft owners, not fleets

Common limitations:

  • Not available for enterprise aircraft (e.g. M30, M350, M4E, etc.)

  • Limited suitability for high-utilisation commercial operations

DJI Care Enterprise (Professional / Fleet Use)

DJI Care Enterprise is designed specifically for enterprise aircraft used in professional operations.

Typically used for:

  • Matrice 30 / M30T

  • Matrice 300 RTK

  • Matrice 350 RTK

  • Matrice 4 Series

  • Matrice 400

  • DJI Dock aircraft

  • Enterprise payloads (where supported)

Two main plan types:

1. Basic Plan

  • Fixed number of replacement claims

  • Each replacement usually has a service fee

  • Lower upfront cost than Plus

  • Suitable for lower utilisation professional users

2. Plus Plan

  • Unlimited replacements within the coverage limit

  • No service fee for replacements

  • Much higher coverage cap

  • Designed for mission-critical operations, police, fire, utilities, and heavy commercial use

Coverage Scope Differences

DJI Care Enterprise generally offers:

  • Higher total coverage limits

  • Better suitability for frequent flying

  • Coverage designed around operational downtime risk

  • Options to include payload coverage (on certain models)

  • Better value for fleets and professional users

DJI Care Refresh is designed for:

  • Individual pilots

  • Occasional commercial users

  • Recreational flying

  • Smaller, lower-cost aircraft

Binding & Activation Rules

This is where many issues arise.

  • Both plans must be bound to the aircraft serial number

  • Most plans must be purchased and activated:

    • Within a certain time after activation of the aircraft, or

    • With a verification process (video verification)

  • Once bound, plans are not transferable between aircraft

If a customer purchases the wrong plan (e.g. Refresh instead of Enterprise), it cannot be converted.

Replacement vs Repair

Both plans generally work on a replacement-first approach:

  • Customer submits a claim

  • DJI assesses the damage

  • A replacement aircraft is issued (subject to stock)

  • Downtime is significantly reduced compared to standard repair

This is especially critical for emergency services and commercial operators.

When DJI Care Enterprise Is Strongly Recommended

DJI Care Enterprise (especially Plus) is strongly recommended when:

  • The drone is used for revenue-generating work

  • Downtime would impact operations

  • The organisation operates multiple aircraft

  • The aircraft is used in high-risk environments

  • The aircraft supports critical operations (police, fire, SAR, utilities)
